Quilt Top Finished

I finally finished piecing the Patriotic quilt top for my dad. yahooo! :-)  I have 6 days to quilt it and bind it and wash it to make it fun and crinkly.  I'm planning to quilt it with a meandering design that has stars and loops in it.  I'm excited to be using variegated thread for the first time so it will be fun to see how that changes the look of the quilt.

The Countdown is on

This quilt for my dad is taking me a while to finish. There was a lot of piecing involved and I worked on it a lot this past weekend. I  worked on it some more tonight and will be working on it every night until I get it done because I need to finish it in 9 days! eek! :-)  I am very excited to see it finished.  I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out except for my star points- they have issues.  ;-)  I need some more practice with those.  I like the colors though and I hope my dad enjoys it when he sees it. And I realllly hope it's finished in time for his birthday on the 4th of July.

Like my earlier snacks comment, there are a lot of things I would do if I were a billionaire. :-) Too many to list here. But I would love to move our entire family (parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, kids, and any close friends who wanted to join us) to a ranch in Hawaii where no one had to work for a living and we could grow food and make quilts and go in the ocean all the time.

5. Places I have lived

And The Winner Is...

Michelle! Congratulations!  She guessed 160 and that was the exact number of squares. Pretty talented guessing! Thanks so much to everyone for participating in my first contest. It's fun and I will definitely be doing more contests in the future. :-)  Below is a photo of the fabric I will be sending off to Michelle very soon.

A Fun Contest and Fabric Giveaway!

I finished cutting the sashing and corner stones for the Patriotic quilt tonight.  So I should be able to piece the whole quilt top together this weekend. Very exciting!  The 4th of July, my dad's 60th birthday,  is my target date to finish the entire quilt.  I think I am on track.  :-)  In honor of the upcoming  holiday, I thought I would have a little contest. Scroll down to see the details.

The picture below is a stack of 1 3/4" squares that I cut for my patriotic quilt. Whoever guesses the closest to the actual number of squares will win 10 pretty fat quarters. :-)  The contest ends this Sunday the 15th of June at 6pm pacific time.   So leave your comments on this post and make sure there is a link for me to reach you if you win. Good luck!
