Happy New Year Fabric Giveaway

(comments are now closed.)
With 2010 coming to a close,
I want to do something fun for all my faithful blog readers and quilting friends.
I am hosting a giveaway and it's the biggest one yet!
 Drumroll please... :)
I am going to give away a package of **7 yards** of Dr. Seuss fabric from the Robert Kaufman "Cat in the Hat" and "Celebrate Seuss" Fabric lines!

There's something so enchanting about all the Dr. Seuss stories and characters.  From "The Cat in the Hat" to "Green Eggs and Ham" I grew up reading all the Dr. Seuss books.  I even remember eating green eggs and ham in one of my classes as an elementary school student.  So it brings back many fun memories to see all the characters printed so beautifully on fabric.

There are 3 opportunities to enter the giveaway

1. Leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite Dr. Seuss book or character is.

2.  Follow my blog and leave a comment letting me know that you follow.  (If you already follow, simply leave a comment letting me know that you do)

3. Blog about my giveaway on your blog and leave a comment to let me know you've done so.

***Entries will be open until 6pm Pacific Standard Time on New Year's Day 2011.  The winner will be chosen using a random number generator and will be posted before midnight New Year's Day.  Please make sure that there is a way for me to contact you (e-mail address, link to your blog) in case you win the prize!  Good luck and thanks for entering!

Hawaiian Quilt Finished

I love this quilt. Have you ever made a quilt for someone else in a color scheme that definitely wouldn't go with your own house, but once it's finished you love it so much that you want to make another one to keep? That is what happened with this quilt and pillow sham set. When I picked out the fabrics, I fell in love with the bright colors and how much they popped against the white. It was so much fun to work on and I really enjoyed quilting it.
I think I am in a new phase of quilting right now in that I've moved away from free-motion quilting and really enjoy straight line quilting that mirrors the quilt's seam lines.  I love the crisp, clean and orderly look that the straight lines create.   Here are some pics of the finished product!

Progress made on Hawaiian Quilt

I finished the top of the Hawaiian quilt I'm working on! I'm pretty excited about how it is turning out and will be even more excited once it's quilted. I plan to complete the basting phase tonight and move on to quilting tomorrow night.  I'm debating on quilting it with straight lines or diagonal lines, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with lines instead of free motion stitching. Here are some pictures of its current state:
